The book is the culmination of seven years of intensive studies on the ecology and floristic diversity of Madayippara, a well-known south Indian laterite hillock. Ecological data include the habitat formations and vegetations, microclimate, water and soil analysis. The book provides systematic treatment following APG IV system and deals with 665 angiosperm taxa placed in 117 families, which includes 3 novelties, 161 endemics and 14 species under various IUCN threat categories. A key for the identification of all taxa provided with nomenclatural updates. The book combines vividly coloured photoplates of the more commonly seen angiosperm species around the hillock. This forms the first comprehensive treatise on the ecology and diversity of a South Indian laterite hillock.
